Tobias Arweiler

I’m Tobias Arweiler, a photographer based on Fehmarn, a small island in northern Germany. By day I work as a software engineer; photography is the thing I keep coming back to outside of it. I first picked up a camera at seventeen, but it wasn’t until early 2025 — when I traded an old Nikon D3500 for a Fujifilm X-T5 — that it grew into a real, lasting passion.

Living on the coast, I shoot a lot of landscapes, though I’m slowly working my way toward portrait, street, and sports photography. I care most about framing and light — finding a shot someone else might have walked past. I like strong contrast and colour with a slightly dreamy feel, never clinically sharp, and I split my time between digital and film, lately experimenting with black-and-white and my own Fujifilm recipes.

What I’m really after is a picture that makes you pause for a second and wonder what’s going on — and, with the landscapes, maybe pass a little of the island’s calm along to you.
